Enjoy beach camping at Red Cliff campgrounds, near Angourie in Yuraygir National Park and only 2.5hrs from Gold Coast. We will set up your tents our specified campsites and spend the days surfing, exploring and relaxing. At Yuraygir, you can see some of the country’s most vulnerable native wildlife up close, such as squirrel gliders and eastern grass owls and soo many kangaroos. See if you can spot a rufous rat-kangaroo, a rarely seen rabbit-sized marsupial. Or even the shy Queensland blossom-bat, Australia’s smallest fruit bat. Keep an eye out for coastal emus, once so prevalent and now, sadly an endangered species with fewer than 100 left in the park. This will be a epic camping trip.
For a budget priced beach camping campsite with million-dollar views, travel to Red Cliff in northern New South Wales. Not only do you have the waves at your doorstep, but the kangaroos also love it too! We will provide the tents/ marquees and all-inclusive breakfast, lunch and dinners to keep you fueled up for your next surf. If you want to just sit back and relax on a beach, then that is totally fine, and we want everyone to be able to spend their camping trip away on their own terms.
A popular surfing destination and beach camping, it is only 5 km from Brooms Head and their “Bowlo” known for yummy Chinese meals. Yuraygir campsite extends from south of Yamba, around the laid-back villages of Wooli and Minnie Water all the way to Red Rock. One of our secret point breaks is only a 15min drive on dirt tracks where it opens out to a beautiful point break and a stunning river with sand bar at low tide.
Lake Arragan is not far from our campsite so if our beach camping is blown out or low tide, then we can escape the gale and have a swim, read a book under a shady tree or be mermaids like me. This camping trip is what you want it to be.
There is nothing more satisfying than earing the cracking of a fire and being able to sit outside under a sky full of stars with minimal light pollution. Why not toast some marshmallows whilst your there...
On this particular day, we had small but super clean fun waves and we both had a blast practicing controlling our boards and popping up correctly. I even had a turtle party wave with me, which was soo cool!
You can expect the camp site to be inundated by our native animal, the great kangaroo. They will just be quietly grazing on grass around us at dusk and dawn, but don't worry as long as you give them space they won't harm you. Never try and touch one as they have killer foot nails that can gouge you if they want to kick you. Have you ever heard of boxing kangaroos... there's a reason for that name.
